Scatopilia
Scatopilia involves the making of obscene telephone calls. These calls are done repeatedly for the purpose of sexual excitement. Scatophilia is sometimes compared to exhibitionism, but Scatophiliacs are more aggressive in their acts, yet more distant than in exhibitionism. The anonymity provides safety and makes the setting more appropriate for masturbation. The sexual gratification is brought about through the obscene narratives of the caller.
There are three types of obscene phone calls.
The caller describes in detail his masturbatory act, and boasts about his looks.
The caller threatens the victim (I've been watching you and I'm going to find you)
The caller tries to elicit intimate details from the victim.
Sometimes the obscene caller repeatedly calls the same victim, but only if she is willing to listen. Most often the telephone numbers are dialed randomly. The Scatophilic (like the exhibitionist) wants to shock, disgust and horrify the victim who receives his phone call. He is also dependant on the reaction of the victim to get gratification.
Fortunately there does not appear to be any danger coming from the part of the caller, but this does not comfort the victims. Luckily modern technology makes it easy to trace phone calls and render justice to obscene caller or at least make them stop if nothing else
