Nausea (Morning Sickness) during Pregnancy
Nausea or morning sickness is one of the most common complaints in pregnant women. This sickness is more prevalent in the first trimester when the woman's body would still be adjusting to the pregnancy.
There are several tips and tricks that can help ease the feelings of nausea and morning sickness. We hope this advice will help to relieve your morning sickess;
Eat small regular meals instead of one large meal. Large meals tend to unsettle the stomach and could cause nausea and vomiting. Also, low sugar in the blood levels and an empty stomach could make the nausea worse.
Keep some snack food handy. Feelings of nausea during pregnancy could be alleviated if the woman eats something small.
Do not force yourself to eat something that you don't feel like. If your body is saying No to pasta, keep it that way even though you used to love pasta before the pregnancy. Trying to force yourself to eat things you don't feel like can only upset your stomach. Avoid sight of food that is disturbing your stomach.
Drink slowly. Do not consume one large glass but rather sip slowly at a glass. Pregnant woman have reported a decrease in nausea when drinking bitter lemon or sparkling water. Water is also very important to replace any liquids that may have been lost through vomiting.
Try to avoid eating right before bedtime. Eating late and going to sleep doesn't do much good to a pregnant woman suffering from morning sickness. Eat at least three hours before bedtime to avoid discomforts during the night.
Avoid fatty, fried or spicy food. Stick to healthier meals since this will help your stomach. On the other hand, starch foods like toasts or dry cereals might actually help the nausea to subside.
Ask your doctor to recommend some prenatal vitamins that you might need to take if you are losing a lot of nutrients due to vomiting.
Finally rest and take care of yourself and your baby!
