Hepatitis
Hepatitis is a viral disease that affects the liver. There are 3 types of Hepatitis that can be
sexually transmitted. These are Hepatitis A, B and C.
Hepatitis A - This is normally contracted through unsanitary conditions in contaminated
food or water or through sexual contractions that involve the anus. People suffering from Hepatitis A
normally recover within 6 weeks and develop an immunity against the disease.
Hepatitis B - This is contracted through sexual contact, blood, semen, saliva, vaginal secretions and
urine. It can also be spread by using contaminated needles, ear piercing equipment, or by sharing the tootbrush or rasor with an infected person.
Hepatitis C - This is passed on via the bloodstream but may also be transmitted via sexual contact with an infected person.
Symptoms of Hepatitis
The symptoms of hepatitis may include;
Fatigue
Dark urine
Nausea
Diarrhea
Enlarged Liver
Abdominal pain
Treatment for Hepatitis
There is no medical treatment for hepatitis. Generally rest and liquids are recommended until
the disease runs its course normally within a few weeks. Ocassionally, serious liver damage or death can result.
