What is acne?
There are 5 main basic type of acne. These are- Blackheads or Open Comedones
- Whiteheads or Closed Comedones
- Papules - red pimples

- Pustules - pimples with white pus at their top.
- Cysts or Nodules - tender, sensitive, deeper lesions - filled with pus.
How is acne caused?
Every type of acne is caused by excessive sebum production by the sebaceous glands. When there is an excess of sebum, the area around a hair follicle, the pore can become clogged. This will cause an inflammation, which is will cause a spot to swell and turn red. Sometimes as in severe acne, this pocket of inflammation within a pore can rupture, causing damage to the skin that could result in scarring.Who gets acne?
