- Small Meals
Try to have small regular meals every four hours. This will help stop you from going hungry and then over eating at dinner time. Make sure that you go for small healthy snacks that contain protein and fiber.
- Reasonable Expectations
Try to set reasonable expectations for your diet. Don’t make plans to starve yourself on an apple a day because your diet is bound to fail. Try to have a specific amount to reduce. You can start by reducing food that is high in fat content.
- Eat tasty food
Tasty food doesn’t always mean unhealthy food. Try to experiment with herbs and spices to make your meals more appetizing. If you are craving a particular food, it is ok to let go once in a while even if they aren’t too healthy.
- Avoid high calorie drinks
Alcoholic drinks, hot chocolates and sodas are high on calories. Try to avoid them as much as possible so as not to boost up your daily calorie intake.
- Exercise.
A diet needs to be complemented with good exercise in order to create a holistic change in lifestyle. Don’t plan on heavy exercise but a few sessions a week at the gym or some good long walks will help you lose the weight and keep it off.
- Eat Slowly
Take your time eating. Chew and taste your food instead of just swallowing it. Remember it takes the brain 20 minutes to register that you are satisfied so if you eat fast, you will tend to feel hungry and continue eating, possibly over eating.
- What can you handle?
We all have our love food, the piece of junk food that we just can’t do without. Make a conscious effort to figure what food you just can’t resist and avoid it as much as possible. If you don’t buy biscuits, you definitely wont have to wrestle with your conscious whether or not to eat them at 11pm!
